LA Times goes big on Garrett

Mainstream media loves a bit of ‘exxxtreme’ and Garrett MacNamara fits the bill perfectly for a ‘look-at-this-crazy-dude’ type of story. Often they get it wrong, go too far or make us all look lame, but the LA Times’ Joe Mozingo and San Fran filmmaker Sachi Cunningham just put together a neat piece about GM and his endless exploration of the outer edges, complete with video, stills and even some graphics explaining how a ‘slab’ works. Guaranteed it got Average Joe amped at breakfast, and to the LA Times’ credit, it looks pretty damn good from a surfer’s perspective, too. See if you agree … :
