Watch it, be inspired and send us your own POV films!
TSP is running an online Point Of View film comp, looking for your clips so we can give the winner a large amount of surfing stuff, including a surfboard, leash and … literally everything you need from board to backpack to wax, jack.
Films should be max 3 minutes long, filmed from the water of you or A.N.Other riding waves, dolphins, mermaids or … whatever you ride.
Just upload finished films to www.MPORA.com tagged with ‘TSPPOV’.
Then wait for the booty to roll in.

Two Weeks Left for Submissions to San Sebastian Surfilm Festibal

Deadline for submitting films is April 1st 2013!

We are receiving very powerful works from filmmakers from all around the globe and also the best local projects that once again show the solid level of surf films productions. We will be able to see those in the upcoming Sufilmfestibal to be held in June 2013 in San Sebastian (Basque Country, Spain).

Since we started in 2003, we´ve had an amazing trip working with the best surf films, with some of the most original artists from our culture. From Alby Falzon, George Greenough, Andrew Kidman, Patrick Trefz, Taylor Steele, Jack McCoy, Kai Neville, Cyrus Sutton to Jack Coleman and all the rest of filmmakers. We´ve all been part of this trip which has helped us position our festival as a rare bird, one of the most original and unique events pushing a pure and independent vision of surf culture.

We want to keep on working with the best established filmmakers in the world, and we also want to discover the best new talent who are pushing prestablished conventions behind their cameras and edition booth. We want to present our cult public with absolute premieres, and promote the best titles rewarding the filmmakers with The Surfilm Contest awards, pushing their commercial launch after being presented in our festival.

As of April 1st we will start previewing all the films and once selected the organization will get in touch with the lucky producers who will see their work screened at Surfilmfestibal 11.

From feature Films (40 min. +), short Films (until 39 min.), webisodes, viral shorts, all the formats are valid as long as they tell a real, solid surf story. Films have to be absolute World, European premieres.

Padang Padang – The Cup Overfloweth

If you’re into contests with lefthand barrels, chances are you’ll be watching Tahiti today as they finish the contest at Teahupoo after an excruciating wait for some surf.
But first … here’s a little warm-up for the eyes – Rip Curl’s recent Padang Padang contest in Bali, Indonesia. Ombaks bloody bagus and, in a fine follow-up to last week’s Monday morning nod to the reliably unreliable Chris Ward, a fairytale ending.

Quik Pro France Snack Pack

The Quik Pro France came and went pretty quick. Gabriel Medina, a 17-year-old Brazilian who’d only joined the World Tour ten days earlier, burned through the field taking scalps from men over twice his age, including tour leader and 10x champ, Kelly Slater (39).
The surf was good, not epic, but the surfing was exceptional and there was changing-of-the-guard feel to the whole event as new kids like Julian WIlson and the 2nd-year star of the moment, Owen Wright showed that their time is now.

High and Tight: Nike Chosen episode 1 …

… Um, yes, well, here is some more about that Nike thing where they choose ‘you and your crew’ to ‘live like a pro’, win cash and fame etc if you submit the winning film.
Let’s be honest, now, it’s not exactly aimed at our target reader, is it? But since we’re now a small part of a big group of action sports publishing titles, we’ve been asked by management to upload this and future episodes. It’s not really a problem, and probably pretty cool if you’re in the Nike target demographic. But how’s about readers of TSP subvert it a little? Are you a little older, a little wiser in the ways of the world and the market and good with a camera? Submit something! Maybe ‘you and your crew’ are all, like, 70-something year-old wheel-chair-bound dudes who surfed with the Duke, mid-life crisis 40-somethings or even non-plussed 20-somethings (our average reader age is 26, btw), how about gathering some footage and making your own version. Nike would probably love it, however subversive. We’d be stoked because then we’d be justifying our existence (hard these days as the corpo dollar has its way with us, daily). And who knows, maybe you would be stoked when you win and get a chance to travel, ‘live like a pro’ and find fame as a ‘crew’ of real surfers, unfazed by the terrors of the modern marketplace, so strong in your own convictions you’re able to dance with commercial giants … on your own terms.
Hey, just a thought.

What you need to do to enter is download the template, add your artwork in whatever way you want (print it out, hand draw it and scan it back in, or open it up in Photoshop or Illustrator and do your thang) making sure to include the Dragon and The Surfer’s Path logos, and then email your entries to surferspath@mpora.com.
