Leroy Grannis one of the great photograhers of our time!!! I lived a block from him and got to spend many hours with him at the beach 22nd street Hermosa!! He was our mentor and was a great example on how to live your life!! He was our friend,he surfed with us and took us places he took photo’s and most of all was one of the kindest humans ever!!! May he rest in piece with his cameras and Kay on a beach in Heaven!!!! Hen

Leroy was with us during part of the filming of “Surfing For Life”, and i was so excited to meet such an incredible
photographer. He was so funny when he told the producers that he was so pleased to see women surfers included in the film. He said,”it’s about time!”

I would visit Leroy in Carlsbad and let me pick out pictures in his stack of albums to paint. Was a sharing hearted human being to take time, telling personal stories in his pictures. With Leroy’s permission I did a painting of Miki Dora at Malibu that Miki was to personally sign editions but pass before delivery. Supporting Leroy he signed the edition and invited me to share a two man show with Leroy early 2000 Laguna Beach. Was a honor to share time with him and his aloha. His love for surfing will be in our lives present, and eternity.
