Once again The Surfer’s Path is a proud sponsor of the annual San Sebastian Surfilm Festibal in the Basque Country, Spain. Now in its 10th year, this event is the most diverse, entertaining, eye-opening, hilarious, wine-and-beer-soaked, gastronomically blessed, cultural happening in European surfing.
This year’s lineup of films and events is shaping up to be pretty spectacular. Here’s a sneak preview of some of what’s planned, starting May 31st and going on until June 10th.
For this year we can claim a pretty cutting edge program, some of the best international surf films, up & coming local filmmakers, and a new killer concept!
Extended Vision(presented by Patagonia). Masterclasses + collaborative short film shooting with IPhones! Jack McCoy (above),Keith Malloy, Kepa Acero and Igor Bellido are gonna tell us all their secrets for the making a good surf film! Then 4 hours of filming in La Zurriola Beach, 4 directors, 4 groups of students, 4 hours of editing and Voila! A project curated by Juan Azpitarte. Reserve your slot fast! Very few available spots!
The festival kicks off the 31.05, 20.30, with a double program of Surf + Skate in the Trueba Cinemas, the spanish premiere of Skatistan and another very special title we will unveil soon…. Friday june 1st we go to the Aquarium with HUGE SURF: paddle vs tow then FUTURE!
Saturday june 2nd we´re back in the Guardetxe! The first spot for our memorable parties, this magic space overlooking Donostia hosts Kutxa Gaua, from 18.00 we welcome JapaNing, a project curated by Kurando Shogi that brings us a slice of the freshest japanese surf culture, then the premiere of Gastrologging. An evening of films, art, music and FOOD!
This year, we´ve got to thank specially our longtime supporting sponsors, PATAGONIA and Kutxa, and we want to give a “cold” welcome to our local favorite beer! KELER is now part of our family, and it will be with us for the next 4 years!!
