Voting is now open for The 2012 London Surf/Film Festival Shorties Contest Presented by National Trust. Here’s some details-and one for the weekend.
‘The Shorties short film contest is a way to support and showcase homegrown surf filmmakers and celebrate the wealth of creative talent on our shores,” says Festival Director Chris Nelson. “We’ve been overwhelmed again this year by the quality, diversity and standard of films that have been entered from British and Irish filmmakers and it speaks volumes about the creativity that is thriving in our surf community.
This year 20 films have been longlisted so we are asking the wider surf community to get involved, to support independent filmmaking and vote on their favourite entries in order to help us select the short list.”
The shortlist will be decided by a combination of peer votes cast by the wider surf community and votes cast by the screening panel. The selected films will be showcased on the big screen as part of the London Surf/Film Festival on 11-14 October 2012.
Voting is open until midnight 18th September 2012. Check out all the longlisted entries and cast your votes HERE.
Meantime, here’s one to give you a taste:

John is surfing a 7’4″ singlefin gun reminiscent of the boards which were around at the time of Grajagan’s discovery, circa 1972.
