Barrels with Battrick

Posted on March 30, 2009 @ 2:34 PM

Jersey barrel-monkey Ian Battrick spent several off-season months swinging through tubes in Indonesia, at a wave often called the most perfect right in the world. Ian just sent this neatly edited film of footage shot with his small headcam, a GoPro, the likes of which you can buy everywhere these days. OK, so it’s not George Greenough, or Brian Conley-quality footage, but these clips demonstrate just how good the cheap little cameras are these days - perfect for those of us who aren’t pros with 1000s of dollars-worth of equipment, but who like to relive our tube-time. Of course, not everyone spends as much time under cover as Ian, and hardly any of us have waves like these on our doorstep, but even so, these little things are a seriously cool way of boring the wife and kids, or winding up your mate who had a dental appointment while the point was firing.

Thanks to Ian Battrick and editor, Anthony Dorgan.
