The third and final veterans benefit screening of ‘Between the Lines’ will take place in Los Angeles on August 21st, 2008 at 8pm at the Beverly Hills Fine Arts Theater. Proceeds from the screening will benefit the Rick Thomas Veterans Counseling Center.
A custom surfboard shaped by legendary shaper Jim Phillips will again be featured in a live auction featuring some of the finest images from ‘Between the Lines’. Proceeds will also benefit the Veterans Counseling Center. The last auction was outstanding and raised $3,500 for the veterans. The ‘Between the Lines’ limited edition book will also be available.
The Huntington Beach screening of ‘Between the Lines’ raised funds for the Long Beach Veterans Hospital Prosthetics and Orthotics Lab and moved the campaign within reach of the $10,000 goal. One couple even traveled from New Jersey just to see the film!
Not convinced yet? Then check out this review from Veterans Today magazine: “A refreshing account of an unconventional Vietnam, Between the Lines offers a new perspective at the veteran experience. Throughout the documentary, the stories of surfers in Vietnam are told directly from the veterans themselves. They tell stories of combat as well as deep sea diving. It’s an interesting take on the Vietnam stories, seeming as though it would be a tale directly from a movie script. However, it’s a true documentary showing how the Vietnam veteran includes men from all facets of life, including surfers.”
