Mavericks contest 2010: a double take
The superlatives just keep flowing in this Northern Hemi winter … loads of ‘best’ this and ‘biggest’ that, making it possibly… err … the most superlative-coated winter in surf history.
Anyway here are two views of the Mavericks big-wave event which happened on 13th Feb and may possibly have had the largest surf ever for a paddle-in contest. First involves a stray infragravity wave and 15 injured spectators; the second is the final, as seen by web viewers, eventually won by low-key South African charger, Chris Bertish.
