World Water Day on Thursday 22nd March sees Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) encouraging school children to be more aware of the quality of their water by releasing a free, innovative, interactive, animated online education resource for Key Stage 3 Science, English and Citizenship. With Support from Rip Curl, the resource is called Operation Beach Clean and stars an SAS campaigner and 2 real life junior Rip Curl professional surfers.
SAS will be at the Education Show at the NEC in Birmingham, UK, on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of March to launch and promote this free resource, at stand E127. But if you can’t make it along you can use the resource online at www.sas.org.uk/education/obc
Operation Beach Clean stars Rip Curl professional surfers Jayce Robinson, current UK U18 No 2 and Gisela Pulido, the 14-year-old Spanish kitesurfing wonder who already has three world titles to her name.
Andy Cummins, SAS Campaigns Officer, says; “Operation Beach Clean could be the most exciting education resource out there. It’s free, interactive, animated and packed with Science, English and Citizenship work that is made fun and exciting. Surfing is used to sell everything from cereal to cars, so we are using it to sell Science, English and Citizenship to Key Stage 3 students.”
Rip Curl Junior Pro Surfer Jayce Robinson says; “I’m stoked to be turned into a cartoon that can help make Science and English school work cool. I wish I had the chance to watch surfing and use something this cool when I was stuck in Science.”
