SEA Paddle NYC White Water Fundraiser

Paddle Around Manhattan to Benefit Autism Awareness

The Surfers’ Environmental Alliance (SEA) announces the first ever surf paddle around the island of Manhattan, NYC. The invitation-only, 28-mile paddle will take place on Monday, August 13th and will be completed by about two-dozen participants. Participants will be on stand-up paddleboards and traditional surfboards. All proceeds will benefit Surfers Healing, Autism Speaks, NJCOSAC and SEA.

The event will feature Darrick Doerner, master waterman, North Shore lifeguard for 25 years and founder of Surf Education Adventures (DD-SEA) and world-renowned surfer Gerry Lopez, aka “King of the Pipeline”, legendary Hawaiian waterman, innovative surfboard shaper, sensei and yoga master. The paddle route will begin in the South Street Seaport vicinity and continue up the East River into the Harlem River, then down the Hudson River, ending at Battery Park City.

Two days before the paddle, SEA will host the first SEA Paddle NYC White Water fundraiser to raise money and awareness for autism. The white-themed event will take place Saturday, August 11th at a beachfront residence in Monmouth Beach, NJ. The event will feature some of surfing’s greatest legends, who will be offering their time to this awesome fundraising effort.

The White Water Evening will feature a silent and live auction, autograph session, live music and open bar. Some of New Jersey’s top restaurants and caterers will be donating their time and food to help make the event an unforgettable experience. About SEA

Surfers’ Environmental Alliance (SEA) is a grassroots, project-based environmental organization aggressively committed to the cultural and environmental integrity of the sport of surfing. We are as much devoted to protecting the natural wonders of the coastal environment as we are to fostering and protecting public beach access.
