The launch of the Swim 4 Life campaign at Wave House Athletic Club, Mission Beach was a tremendous success with $40,000 being raised for SurfAid International.
The day-long fundraiser on 31st March saw surfers, business types and enthusiastic volunteers come together to enjoy a fun day’s swimming and more importantly help save lives.
Both businesses and the public were encouraged to give something back to the community and the incentive of a brand new surfboard for the top fundraiser brought out the best in everyone.
The money raised at Wave House Athletic Club, Encinitas, CA will help create lasting improvements in the health of people living in isolated areas of the world whose only connection to us comes through surfing. The Mentawai Islands, Nias, and the Hinakos of Western Sumatra, Indonesia will all benefit from SurfAid’s charitable efforts and an influx of 600 new donors signals a promising future for the cause.
Details of other causes and campaigns can be found on SurfAid’s website.
