The Surfrider Foundation has been named as the beneficiary for the Brian Wilson and eBay Giving Works charitable auction, which will begin this week and end on Friday, September 12th at 8pm.
The Brian Wilson and eBay Giving Works auction will feature spectacular and unique items that tie in with Wilson’s new album, ‘That Lucky Old Sun’, released today by Capitol/EMI. Bidders will have a chance to win a custom ‘That Luck Old Sun’ surfboard, designed under Wilson’s creative direction and shaped by legendary surfboard shaper Robert August, and Wilson’s handwritten lyrics to Forever She’ll Be My Surfer Girl. All items for auction can be found here.
“We are honored that Brian Wilson chose the Surfrider Foundation to benefit from the auction,” says Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation’s Director of Marketing. “Wilson is a legendary musician whose songs reflect our passion for the ocean and stoke of our mission.”
“The Surfrider Foundation has always done an outstanding job in preserving our precious oceans, waves and beaches,” says Brian Wilson. “I want to do all I can to help.”
Wilson’s new album, That Lucky Old Sun, is a musical love letter from Southern California which has already earned four-star rave reviews from top music magazines including Rolling Stone, Spin, MOJO, and Uncut. With choruses and arrangements that are reminiscent of sun-filled days at the beach, Wilson continues his awe-inspiring concept album journey that he began four decades ago.
