Just a few clicks of your mouse and taking time to contact elected officials really does work! Remember last month when Governor Schwarzenegger proposed closing nearly 50 California State Parks? Well, when Surfrider and Coalition partners launched an action to contact the Governor, hundreds of you participated…and he listened!
Governor Schwarzenegger announced last week he was reversing course on his proposal to close state parks. He released a revision to his January budget and is now proposing to restore funding to keep all of California’s state parks open and keep lifeguards on our state beaches.
Surfrider is part of the Save Our State Parks Campaign and will continue to make sure our state parks remain in the budgetary plans. It’s important to remember that the Governor’s proposal is just that, a proposal, and must be approved by the Legislature. Surfrider will be working with legislative leaders to ensure they share the goal of keeping all state parks open and accessible and secure their approval of funding to do so.
As always, please take the time to thank politicians when they do the right thing! Click here to send the Governor a quick message (in the drop down menu be sure to select Parks and Recreation).
Thank Governor Schwarzenegger for listening to the public and for ensuring our Parks remain open and accessible.
