In just two days, bidding will end and the online auction for Joe Curren’s beautifully-framed signature print will be officially closed.
The auction sponsored by Redsand, runs from April 1 – April 30, 2007 and all proceeds will go to SurfAid International.
The auction is currently being hosted online at Redsand and SurfAid websites. The photo to be auctioned was taken by Joe Curren in July 2006 in the tiny West African island nation of Sao Tome & Principe, where the locals ride waves on belly boards shaped from the hull of old dugout canoes.
The picture was taken with a Hasselblad Xpan Panoramic camera using Kodachrome 200 film and the results are magnificent.
The image is a 13”x36” Crystal Archive Print, dry mounted on acid free gator board and framed in a redwood shadow box using black ¾” black foam core spacers. The wood for the moulding is from a salvaged fence taken from the Beach Boys Santa Barbara, Mesa Lane property. Joe has travelled to the end of the world and back, capturing his sights and experiences through his two passions, photography and surfing. Joe’s art reflects his surfing style, simple and elegant and this piece embodies both of these elements.
