Kepa Acero - Antarctic Penguin Encounter

08:20PM Sat, 26th January 2013

Kepa Acero is a Basque surfer of incredible talent. For the last two years he’s been on a mission to surf in as many places as possible, travelling by whatever means necessary and filming it all with his GoPro. He’s been posting regular pieces on the web, all of them, without fail, entertaining, inspiring and heart warming.

Right now Kepa is in Antarctica on a boat with some friends from Chile. They haven’t managed to find any surf yet but there’s been plenty of adventure, magnificent icebergs and crazy ocean life. This piece, his latest, shows Kepa attempting to surf a small wash wrapping around an iceberg covered in penguins.

Did he score waves? No, but he made friends with the locals and that was more than enough to blow his mind.
