SMASH FEST - Breakfast at Tiffany's/Short Film Competition

Alex Dick-Read

SMASH Festival takes place in the New York area from July 25th, so if you’re near, be there.
Here’s a little teaser to whet your appetite.
One part of this multi-faced festival is a short film competition in which film makers have just 24 hours to make a 2 minute film. For details, see below and then go here.

SMASH Productions LLC is excited to announce the SMASH FEST 24 Hour Short Film Competition presented by KIND Healthy Snacks. In addition to hosting world-class independent films, SMASH FEST & KIND Healthy Snacks will be giving local New York filmmakers the opportunity to participate in New York’s first-ever, 24-hour short surf film competition. Six local filmmakers have been chosen to represent their respective surf communities; Benjamin Potter, Davina Grincevicius, Etan Blatt, James Katsipis, Nate Best, Thomas Brookins. On July 8th, these filmmakers will have their skills put to the test in this unique competition, where they will need to assemble a team to write, film, direct, edit and screen a two-minute short film within 24 hours. The 24-hour short films will be presented during SMASH FEST from July 25th to July 28th, at the start of every official film screening. The winning film will be voted on by SMASH FEST audiences through the festival’s to-be-released SMASH App for iPhone and Android. The winner will walk away with a cash prize of $1,000.

“The SMASH FEST 24-Hour Short Film Competition, presented by KIND Healthy Snacks, should be really interesting and a great test of these filmmakers’ skills. We are excited to give these filmmakers the opportunity to show off their talent, while under pressure, to a large audience.” –Tyler Breuer, SMASH FEST Executive Producer.
