Sion's an underground pipe charger from Kauai. This shot was snapped at the first Pipeline swell of the season. Epic conditions for an all day tube fest for the posse.

Late February, working with Joel on a shoot for Vans. Joel did some amazing nose rides that day, produced some amazing images.

This was shot during an MTV photo shoot with Paully Shore and Daisey Fuentes.

I got some of my best photos during the late '80s, like this one of Pottz on a cloudy late afternoon. I was lucky to be a part of that generation.

Fish and net

Joel is like a cartoon character and a photographer's perfect subject or a photographer's nightmare, depending. Count on always getting some weird shots, in or out of the water.

Nathan and I were trying to get shots that would show how water is displaced on a four-fin surfboard. He's another one of my favorite subjects, and a close friend.

The crowd at Pipeline these days is intense. Every moment counts and every picture tells a story, which is what I like to show in my photos.

It was great to see Buttons back in the water after a pretty long hiatus. He was surfing really, really good. He got some great waves, and he was super stoked.

Big Wednesday at Outside Logs and the shot that changed the sport of surfing. The waves outside were a solid 25 to 30 feet. Everyone out that day was part of something special.

This day will go down in the surfing history books. Bruce and all the boys had crazy waves for three days. I got some of my best photos from this day.

The Mexican culture and people are so beautiful and simple, and the sunsets are so red.

Chris charged The Bay hard on this day. He made a few and fell on a few. It was the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau, and Chris is by far one of my favorite subjects.
